After travelling the 250-odd miles to Brighton on an Easter Saturday day excursion we were less than impressed when the first Queen Mary we got to travel on "broke down" after a few stops, although by this time we were well used to Manchester area crews attempting to get changeovers from PDs (and other traditional types) for real or imaginary faults. Rather than wait for the changeover to come out we walked down to Black Rock and picked up a "Panoramic" on the 111, but these proved to be the only PD3s we went on, on a rather frustrating (and damp) day.
