Red & White RS467, LAX104E, was the fourth of 21 respected Bristol RESL6L with ECW B46F bodies. It was new in March 1967 and is seen in Aberdare on a long route to/from Cardiff Bus Station.
Under NBC regional influence it was renumbered RS3267 in October 1975 and became part of National Welsh in April 1978, still with that fleet number.
Aberdare has been considerably redeveloped since this visit, not all bad as it's gained a small bus station and regained a railway station and its best-ever rail service. Red & White took me on companion route 176 to Cardiff and then 73 to Newport for overnight train to Newcastle and work at 08:30 the next day, with the resilience of motivated youth. These RESL6Ls were superb vehicles hard-worked into mid-life, I came to like the Red & White company as a Tilling exception with powerful vehicles, fast schedules and rover ticket availability - unlike much of United at the time.
