In 1971 North Western took delivery of a batch of 9 Bristol RELL6L's numbered 373 to 381 registered SJA373-381J with modified roof profiles to fit under the canal bridge at Dunham Massey. These buses replaced the famous Bedford VAL's pictured elsewhere on the site.
In 1972 when North Western was broken up, they found their way with the service to Crosville and were based at Warrington depot taking fleet numbers SRL238-246. They were withdrawn between 1979 and 1981. SRL243, SJA378J, is seen in Altrincham Bus Station in January 1978.
A photo of one of the VALs is here.
