Recently displaced on extended tours by new arrivals, classically elegant Northern General 1683, ECN683 enjoys the sun between express, excursion and private hire duties at Bensham depot, adjacent to the head office and central works.
The Guy Arab LUF 6HLW with Weymann Fanfare C37F body entered service in March 1956 after storage from delivery in January. 1680-9 were refurbished by Plaxton as C41F in 1964.
1683 was sold to a Macclesfield dealer four months after the photo. Further service of the coach was at Reed, Frizington, Cumberland from May 1969 until withdrawal in July 1971. The Leyland Tiger Cub/Willowbrook B45F adjacent in higher resolution is 1867, JCN867, new in May 1959 which survived to be renumbered 4022 in January 1975 and passed to a Carlton breaker in July 1976.
