943KHA, BMMO D10 ,fleet number 4943 ,seen at Lichfield Bus Station was one of two double deckers designed by the company with an underfloor engine positioned between the axles, believed to be the first of this design in the world. This left room for a unobstructed lower deck which allowed 35 seats downstairs and 43 above. Built in 1960, it was the forerunner of our flat floor vehicles today.
Its sister vehicle 4944 had dual entrance / exit arrangement but was rebuilt as 4943.
