One of the problems of taking photographs of buses 'on the patch' at Midland Red's Digbeth Garage in Birmingham was that the sun was nearly always behind the bus. Very occasionally one was parked differently as was the case in July 1963. In this case one of the first batch of S15s from 1957 (with the black roof livery taken down to the waist rail) posed nicely in the morning sun. (Pity about the litter!) The picture shows Midland Red S15 4613, 613AHA, a Company built vehicle with DP40F bodywork, on 'the patch' awaiting its next turn of duty.
4613 was new in June 1957 and spent most of its service life at Digbeth, being converted to OPO in January 1966, and moving only to Sutton in September 1968 before withdrawal in July 1969.
