1936 Crossley Mancunian with Metro-Cammell framed Crossley H28/24R body, former Manchester 558, CVR760.
It had the first version of the Streamline body with horizontal markings on the upper deck panels which had started to show through as the later paint scheme started to peel off. The bus had recently been rescued from a scrap dealer in Scarning Norfolk in 1980 and clearly had like many of the Mancunians had been used after service as a showman's vehicle.
It is pictured behind Greenfield Paper Mill in Saddleworth in 1981 and was owned by a consortium of around 6 people including myself. Unfortunately the bus deteriorated rapidly and was beyond saving at the time but most usable parts were taken up by a number of Crossley owners and indeed the engine went to GMTS for the Crossley Standard 436.
