The former M.C.T.D/S.E.L.N.E.C./G.M.T. Daimler Fleetline no.4708 parked in a storage compound in the U.S., possibly in the Palm Springs area and after purchase by preservationists in the late '90s. (the sprayed-on '61373' is actually the chassis number).
The bus was originally registered DNF708C in the U.K. late in 1965; most of the 60-strong batch were delivered in 1966 with 'FNE 7xx' registrations.
Six of these buses were retired by G.M.T. in the late 1970s and sold off, being converted by a British firm to open-top under contract to a U.S firm doing tour work in the Palm Springs area. They were all out of service by the late '80s and in storage in the Palm Desert area when attempts began to secure one for preservation over here.
The photo was probably taken by one of the SELNEC Preservation Society people and shown here with permission of the society.
