Manchester 3499, TNA499, seen in George Street, Manchester was a Leyland PD2/40 with a Burlingham H37/28R body new in February 1958.
Unlike deliveries to other operators Manchester often managed to arrange for the chassis numbers to be in order, in one consecutive batch per delivery, This batch 3471-3520, TNA471-520, had chassis 572401-572450, the last six being PD2/34 with pneumocyclic gearboxes. George Street was a temporary terminal point whilst Parker Street (Piccadilly) Bus Station was being rebuilt.
