Manchester abandoned their red with cream band livery for flagship Mancunian models delivered in the twenty months from March 1968. Identical fleet numbers were allocated on passing to SELNEC Central in November 1969. I was pleased four years later to secure a photo of 1021, HVM921F, in original colours.
The Leyland Atlantean PDR1/1 with Park Royal H45/28D body was part of the second month of deliveries and served the city until April 1981.
Rechecking the current Street View, continued development is prodigious - the two elegant buildings survive in a sea of modern development and car parks. The stone one with clock tower serves mainly as dental surgery, losing a little elegance with unsympathetic ground floor double glazing and publicity decals. The Ducie Bridge pub seems to have closed recently, adjoining buildings to its right were already derelict.
