RainforthsFrom: Adam Cartwright (--@--.--) Sat 20 Dec 2008 20:05
I'm writing a short piece for a forthcoming Society for Lincolnshire History & Archaelogy (SLHA) book to follow on from their recent publication "Ploughs, Chaff Cutters and Steam Engines" which contained short histories of Lincs agricultural equipment makers.
The new book will include a chapter on W Rainforth & Sons of Lincoln, who branched out into psv coachwork around 1924. I have largely written the article but I wondered if anyone at LVVS could help with the date Rainforths closed. It looks to have been 1953 or 1954 but it would be really helpful to resolve this.

The article I mentioned in my earlier email has now been published in the SLHA journal - follow this URL: http://www.lincolnshirepast.org.uk/
and click Publications, then Journal and "2010" (published in 2012). Currently the 2010 Journal is only available to non members but the SLHA website features a list of all known Rainforth vehicles which can be downloaded for free.
If anyone can add to the list we would like to hear from you, either at SLHA or via my email address.
