Liverpool were one of the first operators to try to break the mould of the box on wheels appearance of the early rear engined chassis. They adopted this MCW design as their standard from the early 1960s. L704, CKF704C, is a 1965 Leyland Atlantean PDR1/1 with MCW 78 seat body.

After withdrawal by the Merseyside PTE in 1979, this bus ran for Isle of Man Road Services as A686MAN before repatriation to the mainland becoming a publicity vehicle for the Yorkshire Post newspaper in which guise it is seen here.
