Delivered new to BEA in 1966 was KGJ603D, a Park Royal bodied AEC Routemaster. It was bought by London Transport as their RMA29 in 1979 and converted to a trainer minus stairs one year later.
After passing through various owners for spares it was bought by Shaftsbury and District in 1992. They reinstated the stairs during a rebuild in 1996 adding an extra window bay at the same time. The resultant vehicle is now one of the longest Routemaster at 32ft 8ins long and is also the only one with a centre staircase . It is classified RME1 by its owner and is seen at the owners Dorset base.
