London Buses RM850, WLT850, a 1961 AEC Routemaster/Park Royal H36/28R on hire to Blue Bus, Eccles
Blue Bus Services was one of several operators who sprang up in the Eccles/Salford area after deregulation, with this ambitious service from Culcheth to Manchester, a useful link for a small town with no rail connection. However perhaps predictably the service did not flourish, and neither did the company. (The later Blue Bus based in Bolton came later). The other vehicle in use on this day was a green ex Eastern National VR so obviously the firm was not going to be beholden to its fleet name although to be fair this RM was only on hire.
