An unusual vehicle entered in the 1975 British Coach Rally was NLE573, an ex-London Transport AEC Regal IV in the Valliant-Silverline Contract Division livery of Hall, Hounslow although owned at the time by Brown, London W.13.
It is seen here being driven in the finals of the driving tests on the sea front at Brighton by Alec Best of Best, London W.5 who was on crutches with his left leg in plaster following a skiing accident. He was able to compete by using one of his crutches to operate the change pedal on the pre-selector gearbox.
