One of the major tram systems in the capital prior to the formation of London Transport in 1933 was the Metropolitan system in North London. In 1930 they placed tram 331 in service, an experimental car. Later examples would be known as Felthams although the production cars did not have a centre entrance. This car was sold to Sunderland in 1937 for further service; it ran as their 100 until 1951.
