London had its Abbey Road, but Leigh its Abbey Lane. SELNEC Northern 6955, 491DTC, a Leyland Titan PD2/30 with East Lancs L30/28R body and modified grille had carried me there from the Bus Station.
It was probably happier as Leigh Corporation 55 delivered in December 1957, the first of five.
Clearly a reliable earner even with the onslaught caused by OMO/OPO, it had a long life of over nineteen years, lasting until January 1977, latterly at GMPTE of course. I walked to the famous Dangerous Corner location and had a quick trip to Atherton on LUT route 1 before the 82 returned me to Leigh.
