SELNEC Northern 6935, PTC115C, was an AEC Renown 3B3RA with East Lancs H41/31F body. It was new as Leigh 35 in August 1965 and still carries full fleetname and livery in 1970 to supply my only slide of the attractive colours.
Careworn but newer companion of similar layout is Lancashire United 266, ETJ902F, a Guy Arab V 6LW / Northern Counties H41/32F new in October 1967, second of 26 which brought deliveries of that famously reliable combination to an end at the company.
The Renown transferred to Greater Manchester PTE on 1 April 1974 and became a non-PSV later in the decade, ending at an unknown preservationist on the Wirral in October 1984, sadly without success as sold for scrap in February 1986.
The Guy had a more conventional LUT career of exactly thirteen years, creditable for the era.
Photogenic Arpley Bus Station was later replaced by street stops until Golborne Street Bus Station was opened officially by the Mayor on 16 May 1979, but that lasted only until final day 20 July 2005. It was succeeded by the present Interchange.
