Leeds was synonymous with AEC Regents from the early 1930s until the last examples entered service in 1966. In 1960 the first thrity foot long examples arrived. These were 14 AEC Regent V 2D2RA chassis with MCW bodywork which were Leeds' last buses with exposed radiators and the only 30ft AECs anywhere with this feature. 916, 3916UB, is now preserved.
In the nineteen sixties the original front dome was damaged by a falling crane jib and replaced by one based on the MCW body for the Leyland Atlantean
