The better of the Leeds Railcars, 602, with a Roe 34 seated + 36 standing centre entrance body is seen at the Whingate terminus. This car had Maley & Taunton HS717 resilient wheel bogies with four 45 H.P. motors mounted lomgitudinally, driving through cardan shafts and spiral bevel gears, and a Crompton Parkinson VAMBAC controller, the combination resulting in an exceptionally smooth and quiet ride.
