Leeds 602 was one of only two trams built by C.H. Roe and entered service in a special Royal Purple and ivory livery on 1st June 1953. This and companion 601 (with different electrical equipment) seated 34, with provision for 36 standing passengers in their centre entrance bodies.
Intended to be the forerunners of a modern fleet, the decision to scrap the trams was confirmed shortly after their entry to service.

602 has been preserved, click here for a photo taken in 2006.
