Leeds 600 at the Thwaite Gate terminus at Hunslet. This was built in Leeds' Kirkstall Road Works and was a reconstruction of Sunderland 85 which had been purchased in 1944 for 'experimental purposes'.
Most parts used were secondhand and the job was a spare time activity taking from 1949 to 1954. It entered service on 4th August 1954 and seated 34 passengers with 36 standing. One of the saloons was 'non-smoking'. It can now be seen at the Crich Tramway Museum, click here for a recent photo.
