Leeds only ever bought five front engined double deckers with forward entrance bodywork. The quintet were bought for the jont service 72 to Bradford who were using MCW bodied forward entrance AEC Regent Vs as their contribution. 574, 574CNW, seen here in a very wet Skipton bus station.
The Daimlers entered service in 1962. As well as being forward entrance they had a number of other detail differences to the standard Leeds 30ft rear entrance bus. The most obvious was the indicator layout - all LCT buses carried the final destination at the top of the indicator but the Daimlers had this reversed so the public knew where to board the bus! They also had rearward ascending staircases. They were superseded by rear engined types in the sixties at which point Leeds tried to sell them as non-standard but in the event they survived to run for every division of the PTE following its formation in 1974!
In order to accommodate new dual door Atlanteans they were renumbered 872-876 in 1973 and they were they only front engined buses from Leeds to gain PTE livery. Recently restored the bus as yet does not carry fleetnames and the Daimler badge on the engine cowl shoud be of the fluted eyebrow type rather than a script Daimler.
