Further to recent discussion about Leeds small Daimler CVG6 with Weymann bodywork and also comment on the 49 Hyde Park to Old Farnley, here is a shot of 559, YNW559, a 1957 delivery at the Carr Crofts / Tong Road junction en route to Old Farnley.
These were Leeds second batch of buses with enclosed radiators, the first being a batch of similar Daimlers delivered in 1955/6.
The 49 was one of the early Leeds bus routes many of which never went into the city centre. In essence it was a tramway feeder service as it crossed several tram routes on its way across the western suburbs. At the time of its instigation, Old Farnley was a hill top hamlet of rural aspect.
Can anyone imagine buying fags for seventeen and a half pence for twenty!
