Leeds City Transport 34, YUA534J, was one of five Mercedes Benz L406D (delivery van chassis) fitted with a Deansgate B13F body, introduced into service in 1970.
Although strictly just outside the 1960s remit of this site, this view is significant as it shows the experimental 401 Shoppers Service through the newly-pedestrianised shopping streets of central Leeds. A 7-mph speed limit was imposed on the minibuses, and they ran on a six-minute frequency between 10.00 and 16.00. Many potential passengers thought it was quicker to walk, so the service was not successful.
