Leeds purchased 37 trams from Southampton in 1949/50, but only eleven entered service, numbered 290-300.
Eight were scrapped at Low Fields Road Yard, whilst nine were taken to a farm in Stanningley, and nine were disposed of to a Southampton scrap dealer without ever travelling to Leeds. Five of those which reached Leeds are seen in the farm field in Stanningley, where they had been taken in 1950, and were still there in 1956 awaiting their demise, with the roof of a sixth one in the centre foreground. The reason behind the change of plan was due to the Felthams becoming available and the poor condition of the Southampton trams.
