Leeds 277, seen on the Stainbeck Lane spur at Chapeltown, had an English Electric 48/28 body on E.M.B. Heavyweight bogies and was one of three HR2s acquired from the London Transport Board in 1939. 277-279 had been new in August 1930 as London County Council 1881/3/6 respectively, entering service in Leeds in October 1939, December 1939 and July 1940 respectively. 277 was the first to be withdrawn in October 1956 with the others following in September 1957.
The London Passenger Transport Board was created in 1933 with the ex-L.C.C. trams retained their existing numbers and those from the other operators being renumbered with the exception of ex-Ilford 33-40 and ex-Leyton 161-210 which also retained their existing numbers.
