Seen loading at the stop in Swinegate on the final day of operation of the services from there to Middleton and Belle Isle, is Middleton bogie 265.
Following the abandonment of the Tong Road routes on the same day, the Middleton and Belle Isle routes were linked to those to Crossgates and Halton from the 22nd July. 265 was one of sixteen Middleton Bogie trams new in 1935 and entered service on 11th February 1935. Eight (264-271) were built by English Electric on Maley & Taunton Swing-Link bogies and seated 40/30 with straight staircases on the nearside whilst eight (256-263) were built in similar style by Brush Electrical Engineering Co., following 255, the prototype, which had offside staircases, and which had been built by Brush in 1933. Withdrawn on 6th October 1956, 265 was burned in Lowfields Road Permanent Way Yard on 6th December.
