Leeds Horsfield 179 was one of 100 such trams (155-254) built in 1931 on Peckham P35 trucks and seated 37/23 in its Brush body. Four prototypes, 151-154, had been built at Kirkstall Road works in 1930 by the Transport Department.
179 was the only one to have the single blind destination blind mounted in the upper half of the window when the full size displays were replaced on some of the trams by the single blind version. It is seen here climbing through Middleton Woods on the last day of the tram service to Middleton. Having come from Crossgates (18) via the city centre as a 12 Circular to Middleton it will continue via Belle Isle to travel to Halton (20) via the city centre.
