A very early shot of pioneering trolleybuses in Hastings. The system opened in 1928 using a fleet of Guy trolleybuses. Eight of these were Dodson bodied open top open staircase double deckers which were the only new build open top trolleybuses built. The rest of the fleet were centre entrance saloons with Ransome Sims and Jeffries bodywork. Both vehicles were on Guy BTX chassis The double decker is 1, DY4953, while the saloon is 22, DY5124.

Llandudno UDC was one of the countries smallest muncipal fleets and was famous for buying small Guy chassis both before and after the second World War. JC5313, dating from 1938, is a normal control Guy Wolf with 20 seat bodywork by Waveney.

West Riding 570, HL9955, was a Guy Arab I with Roe L24/26R (reseated in 1950 from L27/28R) body new in 1942 and is parked outside Selby Garage.

This utility Guy Arab II of 1943 has a most interesting history. It was one of over 100 Arab utilities delivered to Plymouth City Transport during the war years, CDR679 with fleet number 249. The whole batch featured lowbridge bodies built by Roe. After withdrawal in 1957 it was sold to Cambourne Motors. Eventually it was sold to an Essex farm who removed the body and converted it into a flat truck to move bales of hay.

EHO587, a Guy Arab I with Strachan L22/26R body was delivered new to Aldershot & District in 1943 and given the fleet number G6. It was rebodied by Weymann L25/26R in 1950 and renumbered as 872 the following year, lasting in this form until 1964 when it was withdrawn and sold the next year to British Railways.

Blue Line (Samuel Morgan) FTD69 was a Guy Arab I, new to Lancaster Corporation in 1943. It was rebodied by Park Royal/Guy in 1952 and bought by Blue Line in 1958.

By 1965, complete utility buses built during or just after the Second World war, still with their original bodywork were becoming increasingly rare. GV9614 from the small fleet of HC Chambers and Son of Bure was a Guy Arab II with Roe body.

Samuel Ledgard JUA763 was a Guy Arab II which entered service with Ledgard in 1943 with a utility body and was rebodied in 1951 with a Roe H31/25R body which gave it a further ten years life with Ledgard.

Wray (Ideal), Hoyle Mill acquired HRB912 from Chesterfield Corporation 102 in May 1957 and withdrew it two years later. The Guy Arab II/Roe L27/26R was seen leaving Barnsley Bus Station on May 9th 1959 shortly before withdrawal.

Guernsey Railways 14 (506), a Vixen new in 1947 with Duple B35F body and withdrawn in 1964. GR had 10 of these buses (one of which served initially in the Guernsey Motors fleet). Some of these lasted until 1967 but, although several ended their days in Priaulx' scrapyard, by 1978 only this and a Victor remained there.

Lincoln City Transport 23, DFE383, a 1948 Guy Arab III carries body built by Guy on Park Royal frames. Originally fitted with a Meadows engine this was replaced by a Leyland unit in 1953. In 1961 the bus was fitted with an air cooled Ruston & Hornby engine and acquired its non standard radiator at the same time.

Samuel Ledgard GUY3, a Guy Arab UF with Guy B40F body (using Park Royal framework) built in 1950 as a demonstrator. It was famous for being the prototype underfloor-engined Guy and was exhibited at the 1950 Earls Court Show. It was first sold to Kitchin & Son, Pudsey and passed to Ledgard in 1957 when they took over Kitchin's stage carriage services.

They had very well appointed interiors and, partly due to the early demise of the Wulfrunians, had long active lives - they were still in regular all-day service around Castleford and Featherstone in the early 'seventies.
