From 1971 onwards, Southend Transport operated special services on Boxing Day, including routes outside their normal area. For a number of years this included an hourly operation to Wickford over part of ENOC's famous 251 route. 380, GHJ380L, waits to leave Central Bus Station on Boxing Day 1974.

From 1971 onwards, Southend Transport operated special services on Boxing Day, including routes outside their normal area. The most successful by far of the out of area routes was the 400 to Kings Cross, running every two hours over the normally ENOC operated route. It was always operated by the newest double deckers in the fleet, such as 382, GHJ382L, seen here and sometimes required duplication - helped by the absence of any train services from Southend to London on Boxing Day!
