Leyland H30/26R bodied Leyland PD2/1 GUE243 was Stratford Blue 37 and is seen in Stratford-upon-Avon. It was one of eight new in 1948.

Stratford Blue garage with 2768NX, a Leyland PD3/4 with Willowbrook H41/32F body new in 1960 and 436GAC, a Leyland PSU3/3R built in 1963 with Duple C49F bodyalongside. Not the best of shots from across a busy road even then.

Inside Peel depot, former Stratford Blue/Midland Red Willowbrook H41/32F bodied Leyland PD3A/1 of 1963 MN44 (formerly 668HNX, Stratford Blue number 1) keeps company with PSUC1/2 Willowbrook 9, 3680MN, of 1961. The saloon still exists in preservation, currently unrestored at Jurby Transport Museum.

One of three former Stratford Blue/Midland Red Leyland PD3/4s converted to open top by IOM National Transport, MN57 was formerly 536EUE which was Stratford Blue 36 new in 1963. Converted to open top in April 1979, this Northern Counties-bodied Titan is now in Holland whilst sister bus 537EUE (MN58) is in Ireland.

On honeymoon in 1980 I tried to recreate an earlier picture from almost the same location, not least because the signage to Summerland was still present. This is Leyland PD3 58, MN58, new to Stratford Blue as 37, 537EUE in 1963. A couple of MER open vehicles are also seen on the left.

Billown Lime Quarries, Ballasalla, Isle of Man, owned MN44, a Leyland Titan PD3A/1 from 1963 with Willowbrook H41/32F bodywork.

MAN10M, a Leyland Titan PD3A/1 built in 1964 with Willowbrook bodywork. This had been new as Stratford Blue 3 with registration 670HNX but found its way to the Isle of Man (via Midland Red) where it served in the Isle of Man National Transport fleet registered MN63.

Stratford Blue 5, 672HNX, a Willowbrook bodied PD3A/1 picking up visitors who have been to see "Mrs Shakespeare's "house at Shottery. On the website, there is no mention of a bus service to/from Stratford nowadays..... Some of this batch of 8 vehicles were sold to Isle of Man Transport. Comparing an earlier photo in BBF 7, this one has had a larger destination screen fitted at some point.

Stratford Blue 56, AAC21B, a Plaxton Panorama C41F bodied Leyland L2 Leopard was the first of two new in May 1964 and is seen at Ascot racecourse.

22. GUE1D
Isle of Man Road Services bought a number of Leyland Titan PD3s from Midland Red in 1972 who had in turn acquired them from Stratford Blue when that company was wound up. Among them was the former Stratford Blue 7, GUE1D, a 1966 Leyland Titan PD3A/1 with Willowbrook bodywork. In the Isle of Man it was re-registered MN2670 and given the fleet number 70.

HAC628D, a Leyland Leopard with Marshall DP body new in 1966 as fleet number 62 for Stratford Blue.

Preserved ex-Stratford Blue 62, HAC628D, was the last Leyland Leopard L2 built in 1966. It is fitted with Marshall B41F bodywork.

Stratford Blue bought their first rear engined chassis in 1967 when a trio of Leyland Atlantean PDR1A/1 with Northern Counties bodywork entered service. The sole survivor of the trio 10, NAC416F, is seen awaiting restoration at the Oxford Bus Museum. It carries NBC poppy red livery.

Although NAC416F had been new to Stratford Blue, it is seen here in N.B.C. Days carrying Oxford/South Midland names and fleet number 905. It was a Northern Counties H44/31F bodied Leyland PDR1A/1 Atlantean.

Stratford Blue were absorbed into their parent company Midland Red in 1971. The last delivery to them as a separate company was this Leyland Leopard PSU3A/4R with Alexander coach body 36, XNX136H, in May 1970. It was also the only one of its type owned by the company
