Provincial (Gosport & Fareham)

Provincial CD7045 is a Leyland G7 with Short O27/24RO body work and originated with Southdown in 1922. She moved to Provincial in 1934 and was set aside for preservation in 1946. In that preserved and immaculate state she was a regular performer at the annual Gosport carnival.

On the right is the famous ex-Provincial (Gosport and Fareham) 35, BOR767, a 1936 AEC Regent with Park Royal H30/26R. The top deck is from sister No44 when 35 had an argument with the famous Fareham Railway arch.

Provincal of Gosport AEC Regent 35, BOR767 dates from 1936, and has a Park Royal body. It is seen in Kings Road Harrogate in 1968 at an early Trans Pennine Rally.

Gosport & Fareham (Provincial) 39, FT4222, was an AEC 0661 Regent new to Tynemouth & District T95 in 1937 with a Weymann H26/26F body. It had been rebodied in 1949 with a Pickering H30/26R body and was acquired by Gosport & Fareham in 1957 as one of nine vehicles to replace those lost in the Hoeford garage fire of 18th June 1957.

Gosport & Fareham (Provincial) 47, DOR921, was an AEC 0661 Regent new in 1939 with a Park Royal H30/26R body which is seen at the Gosport Ferry terminus next to 5, HOR792, a Guy Arab III with a Guy H30/26R body new in 1950.

270MHO, Provincial 59, with an AEC Regent II chassis built in 1946 and subsequently re-bodied by Reading of Portsmouth in 1964. BBF1 notes it as "Ex Hawkins" in 1962 and "14" in the Provincial fleet.

The Gosport ferry terminus in April 1954 sees Provincial 1949 built Guy/Park Royal bodied Guy Arab III HCG42, fleet no. 7, and 1940-built AEC Regent I, DOU427 fleet no. 50, also with Park Royal bodywork, taking centre stage.

The temptation to photograph two adjacent consecutive registrations was too much, resulting in frontal views of 1958 AEC Regents with Park Royal bodies (976CWL and 977CWL), Provincial 68 and 69, which were originally with City of Oxford.

Gosport and Fareham Omnibus Co Ltd (Provincial) CHO449C started off as LT G276, GYL416, a Guy Arab with Northern Counties body in 1945. It was acquired by Provincial in May 1963, and in 1965 fitted with an air-cooled engine and rebodied by Reading. The licencing authorities decided that these rebuilds was so radical that they were in effect new vehicles and therefore had to be re-registered

Preserved ex Provincial 12, ECG112K is a Bristol RELL6HLX with ECW B44D bodywork. No 12 was new to Provincial in May 1972.
