Seen here at the Ringwood Rally in a nearside shot is Shaftesbury & District RME1, KGJ603D, the R2RH/2 Routemaster which had been new in November 1966 as British European Airways 8210 with a Park Royal H32/24F body.
It passed to the British Airways Board in April 1974 as C210. Withdrawn in 1978 it moved to London Transport Executive as RMA29 in June 1979, and was used as a non-P.S.V. staff bus and later as a training vehicle with the staircase removed. After passing through various owners for spares it was bought by Shaftsbury and District in 1992.
They reinstated the staircase during a rebuild in 1996 adding an extra window bay at the same time. The resultant vehicle is now one of the longest Routemaster at 32ft 8ins long and is also the only one with a centre staircase.
