Devon General DR210, OD7497, an A.E.C. O661 Regent with a Short H28/24R body was new in 1934 as number 210. It was renumbered to DR210 in 1938, and early in the war period it was temporarily converted to producer gas operation.

OD7497 is a Devon General AEC Regent with Short O30/26R body dating from 1934 and not seen in public for 6 years. It has just been acquired by Quantock Heritage and made a surprise visit to the Kingsbridge running day where it did one trip and a feeder service in the evening to Totnes for some very lucky people.

Seen in Leeds, on the land between Lisbon Street and Saville Street is Ribble, Preston 219, BDV6, a Leyland TS7 with a Burlingham B35F body fitted in 1949, when it was numbered 2710, being renumbered to 219 in 1951.

A fine pair. On the left is ATF477, a Leyland Tiger TS7T with a 10-litre petrol engine and fitted with a Fowler C39F body, new to Singleton's of Leyland. On the right is DOD474, an AEC Regal 0662 with Weymann B35F body, new in 1940 to Devon General (SR474) and withdrawn in 1952.

The WETC at Winkleigh could always be counted on to provide some interesting surprises on a visit. One such surprise was this Devon General utility Guy Arab which had been rebodied by Roe. Numbered DG314, JTA314, in the fleet it has survived the intervening years and has recently moved up North to Halifax, but is still apparently in a very similar condition. It's a testimony to the Roe body that despite all those years it still looks solid and straight.

The only Devon General vehicle present at the Kingsbridge Running Day was 1946 AEC Regal/Weymann SR487 HTT487. This was one of batch of six vehicles which later passed to Leicester in exchange for six AEC Regent IIs. Seen here leaving Kingsbridge Bus Station on service 99 to South Pool.

An unidentified Devon General AEC Regent with Weymann body, which seems to have the low radiator as the London RT class which would make it one of the batch DR326-333, HTT326-333, new in 1947.

Travelling along Main Street, Campbeltown is KOD585, an A.E.C. 9612E Regent III in the fleet of McConnachie,Campbeltown.

KOD592 was the last vehicle to be acquired by Brown's Blue, Markfield and came from Devon General DR592 in June 1962. It was an A.E.C. 9612E Regent III with a Weymann H30/26R body new in 1949. It was fitted with platform doors shortly after arrival and passed to Gibson, Barlestone in March 1963.

Grey Cars was the coaching arm of Devon General until the advent of the NBC consigned them to the history books. LTA269, a 1949 AEC Regal III 9621A with Duple 33 seat bodywork, carries the Grey Cars livery but was actually new to another Devon General coaching subsiduary Greenslades of Exeter.

Part of the fleet of Farrans, contractors building new barracks at Reed Hall, Colchester. The Leyland in the middle, KFJ607, was ex Greenslades and still in their colours. On the right is LPU686, a Leyland PS1/1 with Duple body, new as City Coach LS7 and later Eastern National 129.

Smith (t/a Blue Bell), March MTT646 was an A.E.C. 9613A Regent III with a Weymann H30/26RD body acquired from Devon General in May 1964. It had been new in 1951 as H30/26R numbered DR646, the doors being fitted by Weymann in 1955 and it became DRD646 in 1957.

NUO683 was an A.E.C. 9822S Regal IV with a Willowbrook C41F body, one of twelve new in 1953 to Devon General, this one being TCR683. It passed to Greenslades, Exeter in June 1961 and to Vines, Great Bromley in November 1964 and is seen in the bus station in Colchester.

ROD756 was a Commer-Beadle integral with a C41F body which had been new to Devon General in 1956. The body was designed to match the twelve Willowbrook bodied A.E.C. Regal IVs delivered in 1953.  It is seen with Jones (Audawn), Corringham.

ROD765 proved to be a survivor. When new to Devon General in February 1956, it was an early example of the AEC Regent V MD3RV, with the smaller 7.7 litre engine (Chassis No. 036).

Trying out a recently acquired telephoto lens has distorted this view of Devon General 895, 895DTT, a 1960 Leyland Atlantean with Roe H75F body at a roundabout in Torquay. Looking a bit shabby and probably not even in line for a repaint into NBC colours, 895 heads towards Newton Abbot. If nothing else, a great view of the conductors setright was obtained!

Seen in Hull is 926GTA which was origianally DL926 in the Devon General fleet. When phototgraphed the bus was in the East Yorkshire fleet as their 902 and is seen in the Lord Mayor's Parade in Hull in 1992 with a former London Routemaster in traditional East Yorkshire livery tucked in behind

A late example of their AEC Regent Vs is this Willowbrook bodied example dating from 1965. 518, CTT518C, is a short 2MD3RA chassis and the bus seats a very conservative 59. It is seen awaiting the arrival of its driver at the Dorchester rally and is being passed by a former Royal Blue LS6G

On hire to Royal Blue, and seen in Victoria Coach Station, was Devon General (Grey Cars) EOD26D, an A.E.C. 2U3RA Reliance with a Harrington Grenadier C49F body equipped with top sliding ventilators instead of the normal fixed windows and forced ventilation which was standard on the Grenadier.

Devon General 524, EOD524D, is a 1966 AEC Regent V with a Weymann body which was completed by MCW following a long industrial dispute at the Weymann factory. Behind the AEC is an ex Huddersfield Daimler CVG6/30 with East Lancs bodywork.

This Marshall bodied Leyland Panther PSUR1B/1R TDV217J was ordered by Exeter Corporation but delivered to Devon General as their 217 following the take over of the Devon municipal in 1970. It was acting as a sales stand at the Dorchester Rally in August 2015. Prior to preservation it was a publicity vehicle for Western National and may be the only Panther to run for First Bus.
