Three Crossleys in one here. Taken on 19th May 1974 we had travelled from Manchester in Bolton 8, DBN978, to Sheffield where we were about to transfer to Yeates-bodied Crossley EX6644. We were joined at this point by Chesterfield 8, NRA708. This bus is identical to how Bolton 8 was in original condition (even to the fleet number), apart from the fact that the Bolton bus had air brakes. Bolton 8 was rebuilt the following year to original rear-entrance configuration, having been converted to front entrance for welfare bus duty, which also involved fitting a tail lift.

This version of the Park Royal standard body was very popular with municipal operators in the north in the early seventies. Forty years later it is still an attractive vehicle.
