Bristol GO5G DKN46 was ordered for and delivered to Maidstone & District in December 1936, but entered service with Chatham & District as no 355. Together with the rest of the batch the chassis were found to be unsuited for local service in Chatham and returned to Bristol, the bodies being transferred to new K5Gs which were apparently suited to Chatham.
Accordingly, in November 1938, it was taken out of service and the Weymann H54R body was transferred to a new K5G registered FKL616. The chassis was then returned to Bristol Tramways and was fitted with a 6 bay Bristol H56R body in April 1939, entering serice with Bath Electric Tramways as fleet number 3829. This body was reconstructed by the company in 1946. In January 1950 it was rebodied ECW H31/28R and fitted with a PV2 radiator as seen here.
It was withdrawn in 1957. the body was removed and fitted to Bath Tramways K6B 3838 KHT389 in January 1958. The chassis with the 1948 ECW body off KHT389 was then sold to Thompson (dealer) Cardiff 4/58. KHT389 with the body off DKN46 was finally withdrawn in 1965, being sold To Norths in 10/65 and finally to Jackson (dealer) Bradford 1/66 for scrap.
I trust that you all have followed this!
Information from M&D fleet history F2 published by M&D & EK Bus Club in 1995: Allan Macfarlane' 'Coachwork by Bristol Tramways' (1999) and PSVC PH5 Bristol Omnibus Fleet History 1937-60 (5/68) - difficult to follow but I think that I have followed the trail correctly. 3829 DKN46 is seen in this image near Old Bridge, Bath in January 1956
