CDU51B was a rare vehicle that, when new, was part of the Coventry City Transport fleet. When photographed in March 1976, it was still carrying the undertaking's livery for its small coach fleet although, by then, it was with an unidentified building contractor at Ryton-on-Dunsmore.
CDU51B was the only vehicle of its type in the Coventry fleet and one of very few to be found anywhere.
CDU51B was a Ford Thames Trader 530E with Martin Walter Romney 25 seat body. Curiously, the only other example I came across was owned by Wolverhampton Corporation. Wolverhampton's example was built a year earlier, in 1963, and was started by Kenex and finished by Martin Walter (after a take-over?). It had 21 seats in perimeter configuration.
