In April 1974 on the formation of the West Yorkshire PTE, the Bradford City Transport fleet was renumbered by the addition of 2000 to the fleet number. Initially renumbering used the traditional gold transfers until the supplies of number 2 ran out after which many buses were carefully signwritten with gold paint in the correct style but without black edging. This practice soon ceased however and once supplies of the Halifax style numbers were available many blue buses received white (and in some cases black) small front numbers.
