1. FXT202
Ex-London Transport FXT202, or what remains of it, in a corner of Bird's scrapyard at Stratford-upon-Avon. This had seen service latterly, until February 1958, with Anderson Brothers (Blue Belle), Evenwood. In London it had been RT27 and had been an A.E.C. O661 Regent with an L.P.T.B. H30/26R body new in 1939.

2. FXT215
Harris (t/a Progressive), Cambridge DLU116 and FXT215 were acquired from London Transport Executive in September 1955 and August 1956 respectively. Both were A.E.C. O661 Regents with L.P.T.B. H30/26R bodies, DLU116 being new in 1937 as STL2117 and FXT215 being new in 1939 as RT40.

In 1955 a small number of “pre-war” RTs were repainted green and sent to Hertford to work route 327, which crossed a weak bridge at Broxbourne (these buses were slightly lighter than the standard RT). Here RT36, FXT211, has just crossed the offending bridge as it passes Broxbourne station on the 327 on 2nd March 1957. Rebuilding of the weak bridge enabled these buses to be withdrawn towards the end of 1957 and, like many of the pre-war RTs, they finished their days as trainers or staff buses.

Hertford Bus Station on 2nd March 1957 with RT128, FXT303, on route 327 and spare bus RT93, FXT268, on route 350a. Note that, like all the pre-war RTs, these have a roof route number box on the back as well as the front. This was never used post-war, although the Hertford buses had full blinds on the front (prewar RTs in Central London never regained full blind displays after the war).

London Transport RT136, FXT311, on driver training duties at Kings Cross. This was the normal use for most of the prewar RTs in their later years.

Aberdeen 18, BRS518, was one of six such buses delivered in 1946 with four more following in 1947 and is here seen at the King Street Garage. Fitted with a Weymann H30/26R body the chassis was of the London 'RT3' style.

Brown's Blue, Markfield HLW151, acquired from London Transport Executive RT164 in June 1958, was an A.E.C. 0961 Regent III with a Park Royal H30/26R body which had been fitted with platform doors in August 1958.

Halifax 36, JX9401, seen leaving Skircoat Road Garage with a light covering of snow on the ground was one of eight such buses delivered in 1946. Originally numbered 301 this Roe H31/25R bodied bus was renumbered to 36 in 1952 and was withdrawn later in 1959.

Halifax 37, JX9402, one of eight AEC Regent IIIs with Roe H31/25R bodies new in December 1946. These chassis were to the London Transport RT3 specification, without engine air filters, allowing the lower bonnet line.

Leon, Finningley 47, HLW142, seen at Glasgow Paddocks Bus Station in Doncaster when newly acquired, was new to London Transport in 1947 as RT155. Acquired in March 1958 the AEC Regent III chassis carried a Weymann H30/26R body and ran until August 1966.

Simpson, Rosehearty HLW144 was new as London Transport RT157 in 1947. It was acquired in April 1963 from Brown's Blue, Markfield. Seen here in Simpson's green/cream livery, operating the Fraserburgh Town Service, it passed to Alexander Northern as NRC1 in December 1966. Park Royal H30/26R bodywork was carried on the AEC Regent III chassis.

Coventry 99, GKV99, was an A.E.C. 0961 Regent III, the chassis of which was built as early as 1948 but which was not bodied until 1951 when Metro-Cammell had capacity to body it with an H30/26R body to London Transport RT3 specification.

On a "dreich" Sunday at a deserted Uttoxeter Market Place, ex London Transport, RT216, HLW203, Stevenson's 10 rests between duties. The sign to the right reads that on Wednesdays these buses run from Balance Street, presumably when the market was taking place. I hesitate to say whether the chassis or Park Royal body was actually RT216 when new!

Regent III acquired from London Transport RT1404 in May 1957. It passed to Barton, Chilwell as number 884 in February 1961 and was sold for scrap, after withdrawal, in August1967.

Delivered in 1949 as RT1418 in the London Transport fleet, JXC181 was one of the 120 AEC Regent IIIs with Cravens H30/26R bodies. After withdrawal in 1956 it passed to Lowland Motorways, Glasgow as no. 38 entering service in July 1956. When Lowland were acquired by Scottish Omnibuses it became BB1 in January 1958 and was withdrawn in 1963, passing to Locke, Edinburgh for scrap.

JXC181 was number BB1 in the Scottish Omnibuses fleet having been acquired from Lowland Motorways, in January 1958. It was a Cravens H30/26R bodied A.E.C. Regent III which originated with London Transport as RT1422 in 1949.

Ex London Transport Craven bodied RT1514, KGK773, was acquired by Longland of Crowland in 1956. It passed to Mulley of Ixworh, Suffolk in 1959 where it retained its green livery and names, in service for 10 years, then was stored until scrapped in 1975.

Of the many former London Transport vehicles to find useful employment with operators all over Britain was AEC Regent III RT2213, KGU142, of 1949. The addition of platform doors to the Park Royal body is an interesting modification. It was purchased by Burwell & District in July 1970.

Ministry of Defence 25BT76 was used by The Light Division for recruiting and displays. Clearly displaying origins in the metropolis it had been named "Myrtle" and was taken in former Durham Light Infantry territory. It was new in July 1949 as LT RT1272, KLB522, with a Saunders roof top body and was bought in July 1969 by The Light Infantry.

London Transport RT4243, KYY846, an AEC Regent III 0961 with Park Royal H30/26R body. New in 1950 fitted with a Saunders body, it received the Park Royal body shown on overhaul at Aldenham in 1966. Demoted to a training bus in early 1971 it spent the rest of its life on such duties from Clapton garage. It was withdrawn in late 1975 and sold the following year to Wombwell Diesels for scrap.

It was acquired by Samuel Ledgard in November 1963; it was acquired by WYRCC in October 1967 when Ledgard's sold out but wasn't operated by them. During the early 70s it was used on City Sightseeing Tours but is pictured in the ownership of Bedlington & District. By this time it had been fitted with platform doors.
