This is Liverpool's first Leyland Atlantean to their own design. There has been discussion on the message board about the merits or other wise of the design; certainlywhen new it was a major departure from the other rear engined designs on offer. L501, 501KD, dates from 1962 and has a Metro Cammell 76 seat body.
When these buses were converted to one person operation the indicator layout was change to ease the drivers lot. This bus is now preserved
