London Transport 1731, GLB731, a SA1 class trolleybus seen on route 691.
It was an 8' wide Leyland TTB6 with a Metro Cammell 72 seat body, new in February 1942, part of an order for Durban but diverted to London because of shipping difficulties. As built they had a separate front exit but this was replaced by fixed panelling by LT and seating for 2 extra passengers added where the door had been - the non-standard destination boards were retained throughout their life.
1731 was withdrawn 3 months after his photo was taken when route 691 was converted to bus operation as part of the third trolleybus conversion stage on 18th August 1959.
