Halifax Corporation "A" Fleet no. 44, PJX44, a 1962 Leyland PD2/37 with Weymann H36/28F body.
Seen on the bus parking ground above Crossfields bus station this shot shows how a classic exposed radiator and smart livery (at least when newly applied, the Halifax livery was prone to looking shabby after a while) could do wonders for the austere lines of the Orion body.
This parking ground was the site of the Alhambra, an imposing building with splendid Corinthian columns, that was demolished soon after the bus station was opened in 1954. There is a picture of this building and the bus station in the "Super Prestige, Hebble" book by Keith Healey and Nicholas Harris published in 2004.
