West Yorkshire PTE (Calderdale District) 3282, CJX322C, a Leyland Titan PD2/37 with Weymann H36/28F body, new to Halifax JOC as 282 in 1965.
Photographed by its driver whilst waiting out the eighteen (yes...eighteen !) minutes layover time at Steep Lane terminus. At the time I had recently bought a secondhand Olympus half-frame camera which I could more easily carry in my uniform pocket whilst working and was bucking the general trend by reverting to a lengthy phase of black and white photography, which continued throught the 1980's and into the early 1990's, though latterly with a proper SLR camera. Though I was able to develop the films I did not have the facility to produce prints from them and so the negatives were filed away, unseen in positive form. Being of the WYPTE and Yorkshire Rider period I dismissed them as being rather too recent and uninteresting, and they remained filed away mostly forgotten about until rediscovering them only during the last twelve months, since when I have been laboriously scanning them all. This and the accompanying ones are from the 'half-frame with guessed exposures' period and are admittedly not of the best quality, but to me they are quite evocative now as they are not only records of buses but of my own working life.
