Huddersfield BUT 9641T with East Lancs H40/32R body 623, KVH223.
Seen at the Outlane terminus of route 73 it was about to return to Waterloo via the town centre.
It had been duly decorated to commemorate the final week of trolleybus operation in the town and carried a civic party on the last official trolleybus journey on the system on Saturday 13th July 1968.
I say official, as it wasn't the last passenger carrying journey performed. That honour fell to sister trolleybus 629 which was allowed to work from St. Georges Sq. back to Longroyd Bridge depot carrying a full contingent of enthusiasts.
After 623 had disgorged it's civic load in St. Georges Sq. it was towed to Gt. Northern St. works for removal of the coloured lights, which had been borrowed from the corporation's street lighting dept.
