Huddersfield J.O.C. 181, JVH381, an AEC Regent III 9613E with East Lancashire H33/28R body, new in 1955.
Pictured emerging from Meltham Mills Road into Huddersfield Road one wet afternoon, whilst operating an evening peak works special from Meltham Mills to Huddersfield, packed with a full load of workers doubtless from the David Brown factory.
This bus was later purchased for preservation and frequently rallied by a member of the Mersey & Calder Bus Preservation Group, being one of three similar vehicles at one time in preservation - 178, 179 and 181. Following fire damage to its rear in an arson attack, 181 was moved to the ill-fated Transperience Museum at Bradford, where it remained for a considerable time in storage pending a decision on its fate. After a couple of changes in ownership it is believed to be now either with the Blackman Family collection, or at least stored at their premises.
