Hunter, Seaton Delaval 30, WTY843J was a Leyland Atlantean PDR1A/1 with Roe H43/29D body which replaced Titan 17, DJR681 when new in January 1971.
It's seen approaching the central traffic lights of Whitley Bay on the North Shields to Seaton Delaval service.
Your photographer has moved from the junction by the red phone box in four years, but with a decade's worth of life experience. By contrast the bus grant double-decker, the only one purchased, is in virtually as-new condition, with PAYE light available but still conductor operated and with front dome absolutely free of tree damage. However it only lasted for two certificates of fitness, being withdrawn in December 1982 and sold for scrap around July 1985.
