Seen at Shildon on 31st August 1975 for the Railway Cavalcade were these two AECs, confusing though as the Regent is the single-decker and the Regal is the double-decker. South Wales 38, 282DWN, is one of the ultra-low single-deckers required by South Wales for some Llanelli dock services. In front is Hanson Regal rebuild 361, TVH497, which had served with Thorne's of Bubwith before being bought for preservation, which sadly proved short-lived.
The tragedy is that it was sold quickly for scrap even though there was nothing wrong with it. It is a particular loss to me with my specific interst in Saddleworth buses as it is one that regularly ran through here on the Huddersfield to Oldham service.
There's a photo of 282DWN here.
