Former Hants & Dorset BOW169, a late prewar Bristol L5G which had been converted into an ancilliary vehicle.
Whilst on loan from David Hoare of Chepstow to the Mersey & Calder Bus Preservation Group at Halifax, its custodian - who owned ex-Grey Cars, but latterly Greenslades Tours Regal III/Duple LTA629 at the time and who had a quantity of Greenslades paint left over - decided to repaint 'BOW' from its NBC poppy red livery into Greenslades colours with the intention of this becoming the MCBPG group livery. In deference to its owner he added the West of England Transport Collection fleetname - David Hoare been associated with Colin Shears in this venture.
It is seen here in its new garb at a rally having towed the Group's recently acquired ex-Leeds CT Regent/Roe 135 there for display in 'as found' condition.
When the Halifax branch of MCBPG broke up in the late 70's, I presume BOW169 went back to its owner - I have not seen or heard of it since. The Leeds Regent later moved to one of MCBPG's hangars at Burscough, and I am not aware of what became of it. It was in excellent condition though and deserved to have survived - it would have looked marvellous alongside preserved sister vehicle 139.
