Hants & Dorset BOW169, a late prewar Bristol L5G which had been converted into an ancilliary vehicle.
This venerable old survivor had lasted just long enough to be bespoiled with NBC poppy red livery. It had been acquired by David Hoare of Chepstow, who later loaned it to the Mersey & Calder Bus Preservation Group (Halifax branch) in 1976, and is seen here at a rally in Cardiff, having been brought down from Chepstow to be collected by its new caretakers and driven back to Halifax - and my word it must have seemed like an endless ordeal for its driver !
